Italy opened the Guinness Women's Six Nations against England at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi in Parma. Italy went into the match after winning all three matches in WXV2. The Azzurre were led by Italy's number eight, Elisa Giordano, and directed by head coach Giovanni Raineri. Meanwhile, John Mitchell coached the Red Roses. It was a tense match, fought with continuous reversals of fortune, which ultimately saw the Red Roses prevail with a score of 48 to 0.
